I’m currently sitting on the beach in South Carolina as I write this, soaking up my last few days of sun before I return to Indiana. This trip has been an absolutely amazing time, and I can’t wait to go on more trips with my family before I leave for college around this time next year. So many things in my life have changed between the last post and this one! In a couple weeks I’m chopping my hair off for no reason other than to try something new, in June I got back from a 10 day trip to Germany, I now own a 2002 BMW which will soon be decked in Lilly prints, and on August 1st I’ll officially be a senior! That’s why I’m glad I’ve been able to check so many things off my bucket list during this trip. Three of those things were to visit Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, and Southern Tide storefronts! Even though I didn’t end up buying anything from Southern Tide (the Jackie-esque dress I’ve been eyeing was not available in my size) I do have some Lilly and Vineyard mini-hauls to share!
If you know me you know that I ADORE Lilly Pulitzer and would build an entire closet out of her items. We’re currently staying on Kiawah Island, and when I found there was a Lilly Pulitzer storefront nearby I was so incredibly excited! I’m always looking at the Instagram stories of my favorite bloggers and watching them post pictures from the dressing rooms, so getting to do that was kind of exciting! I actually made my mom take a picture of me outside the store after the purchases were made.
The very first item I picked up upon entering the store after my mom pointed it out was the Skipper Printed Lace Sleeve Popover in the print Coral Reef Beside the Point. I am very petite in both height and weight, so I got a size XXS! The Midwest’s weather is super weird, hot and humid one day and practically winter the next. That’s why a majority of my Lilly wishlist items have been the pullovers, and I am so excited to finally own one.
I love everything about this pullover, from the colors to the comfort to the print. But I think one of my favorite things about it is the lace detailing down the sleeves! I think it really helps with circulating air through the jacket so you don’t get too warm, but still maintains the purpose of keeping you from being cold. Does that make sense?
Another detail I adored was the zipper-pull! It’s so easy to put a plain zipper on a jacket and call it a day, but adding little things like creative zipper tabs can really make or break the design. This jacket has a gold seashell as a zipper, which fits the summery vibe of the print really well.
As much as I adore Lilly’s bright colors and fun patterns, I have a major soft spot for her solid basics as well. They may look plain, but everything has a detail special to Lilly, whether its the lace or the way something is ruffled. Seeing as I don’t own a single casual dress, I decided to pick up this Brewster T-Shirt Dress in True Navy, also in the size XXS.
What drew me to this dress – besides the amazingly-soft fabric, navy color, and overall fit – was the detailing around the neckline. I’m not sure if I would call it lace necessarily, it reminds me more of those nautical rope bracelets, but I think it’s adorable.
After Lilly mom and I made our way to Vineyard Vines, one of my second favorite stores in the world. I adore their T-shirts, they’re so comfortable and are great for wearing everyday, or as I’ve been doing this week, throwing on as a cover-up for the beach!
Of course I had to pick up the Stars & Stripes Lax Head Tee! If you guys read my last post, or follow me on Insta, you’ll know this year was my first season of Lacrosse. I played goalie and have never loved a sport more in my life. The tee also came in a chalky red color, but I prefer classic white. It seems the tee is only available in Jake Blue online right now, so keep your eyes peeled at your local store or for an online restock if you’re looking for a different color.
And of course to match I added in the 5 pack of Lax Whale stickers! My brother took 2, and I will be putting the other three on my school notebooks.
Finally, in preparation for the upcoming fall season, I grabbed what might be the softest pullover I have ever owned, the Double Faced Heathered Relaxed Hoodie Shep Shirt in Gray Heather! It honestly feels like I’m wearing pajamas, and the stripe details on the inside are super cute! Not to mention that the fit of the hoodie is very nice, so it doesn’t look too casual, which I like.
So that’s it! It’s not a lot, but I was definitely going for quality > quantity on this trip. I’m so happy to have found things that fit well in both stores! I can’t wait to continue building my collection of Lilly items in the following year.
